EMR6 measuring and monitoring
The new EMR6 portfolio is a complete substitution and extension of the existing portfolio of EMR4 / EMR5 devices. With the exception of the EMR6-N1000-A-1 all devices are a 1:1 replacement but they are technical optimized and have a facelift. The existing portfolio is expanded by temperature monitoring relays, window current monitoring relays and voltage monitoring relays.
To cover a width spectrum of applications, Eaton`s new measure and control relay portfolio consist in total of 35 types which can be split in the following eight subgroups:
Functions
Phase sequence relay | Current relay | Voltage relay | Voltage relay |
Monitoring of the rotation diretion of three phase systems | Monitoring of over- , under- and window current (one phase) | Monitoring of over- , under- and window voltage (one phase) | Monitoring of over- and under voltage (three phase) |
Asymmetry relay | Temperature relay | Liquid level relay | Insulation relay |
Monitoring of neutral, phase sequence, -outfall and -asymmetry | Monitoring of temperatures at and into the machine | Monitoring of liquid levels | Monitoring of insulations resistance of ungrounded IT- |
- Suitable for universal use, thanks to multi-voltage power supplies
- Reduced machine downtime and early detection of possible failures during operation
- The universal, multi-functional devices reduce inventory costs and save time during the equipment selection process
- An expanded product range with additional functionalities
- Relays for monitoring machine temperatures
The EMR4 / EMR5 series will be fully replaced by the end of June 2019.
Applications:
- Current monitors for universal use
- Phase monitors for monitoring destruction/damage protection for individual system sections
- Phase sequence relays monitoring the rotating field
- Unbalance relays for reliable phase loss detection
- Multifunctional three-phase monitors
- Asymmetric phase monitoring relays in a single device
- Level monitoring relays for monitoring fill levels
- Earth leakage monitors for enhanced operational safety
Versions:
Phase monitor EMR5-W
The phase monitor EMR54-W in addition to the monitoring the rotary field, also monitors the level of the applied voltage – i.e. monitoring destruction or damage protection of individual system sections.
Features:
- Phase sequence detection
- Phase failure detection
- Status display via LED
- The relay features a second changeover contact that is used for indication purposes
- Two versions for the monitoring voltage U = 160–300 V AC, 300 V–500 V AC and 350 V–580 V AC
- Selectable response and off delay (0.1 s – 10 s)
Earth leakage monitor EMR4-R
The main area of application of the earth leakage monitor EMR4-R is the monitoring of auxiliary circuits for an earth fault to increase operating safety.
AC or DC control voltages
One device is available for both AC and DC circuits, thus enabling the entire range of control voltages to be covered. The DC devices feature a multi-voltage coil to provide both AC and DC supply as required.
Features:
- Test button
- LED status indication
EMR4-F500-2 phase sequence relay
The EMR4-F500-2 phase sequence relay with its compact 22.5mm width is used for monitoring the clockwise rotation of movable motors for which the phase sequence is important, such as with pumps, saws and drilling machines. A clockwise phase sequence causes the changeover contact to enable the control voltage for the motor switchgear.
Features:
- Phase sequence detection
- Phase loss detection at U < 0.6 x Ue
- Status display via LED
- The relay does not require and additional power source
- Second changeover contact used for indication purposes
- Voltage range from 200 V AC to 500 V AC
Current monitor EMR4-I
The current monitors EMR4-I are suitable for both AC and DC monitoring tasks. The selectable lower or upper tripping limit means that they can be used for the underload or overload monitoring of pumps and drilling machines. The on-delay can be selected between 0.1 s – 30 s in order to bridge transitory current peaks.
Features:
- On delay 0.1 s – 30 s
- Status display via LED
- Measuring range 0.003 A – 1 A or 0.3 A – 15 A
- Measuring range can be extended with current transformer or shunts
- The relay features a second changeover contact that is used for indication purpose.
Unbalance relay EMR5-A
The EMR5-A unbalance relay with its 22.5 mm module width is the ideal protective device for phase loss protection. The relay can be used for protecting motors with a rated voltage of UN = 380 V – 415 V at 50 Hz.
Features:
- Adjustable unbalance thresholds
- Phase loss detection
- Phase sequence detection
- On delay 0.1 s – 30 s
- Status display via LED
- The relay does not require an additional power source
EMR4/EMR5-N level relay
The EMR4-/EMR5-N level relays are used primarily to protect pumps from running dry or for the control of liquid levels. They operate by means of sensors that measure conductivity. The 22.5 mm wide EMR4-N100 and EMR5-N80 device are suitable for conductive liquids. They are provided with a switch to select between level control and dry run protection. The EMR4-N500 level monitor (installation width 45 mm) has an enhanced sensitivity and is therefore also good for less conductive media. An integrated on and off-delay function between 0.1s and 10s ensures that even moving liquids can be monitored reliably.
Features:
- Level monitoring of conductive liquids
- Monitoring of mixing ratios
- Status display via LED
Multi-functional three-phase monitor EMR5-AW(N)(M)
With the multi-functional three-phase monitors the phase parameters, phase sequence, phase loss, phase unbalance, overvoltage and undervoltage are detected. The EMR5-AWN is a new version which features the “with neutral conductor monitoring” function.
Features:
- Two changeover contacts for processing measurement results
- LEDs for status display
- Supplied with power by the measurement circuits and have a minimum wiring requirement
- narrow installation with just 22.5 mm with their space saving design
- increases the availability of the system (phase sequence and phase failure are indicated immediately) with an error message time delay from 0.1 – 10s
